INTRODUCTION:
Van Heurck PetroThe Van Heurck model was first made by W. Watson and Sons in 1889. There are no entries for a Van Heurck microscope listed in Watson's delivery books until 1891 however. The example shown on this page is a Van Heurck type B delivered in 1893, and equipped as a petrographic microscope. The same stand was called the Advanced Petrographic microscope in catalogs after that date, as illustrated to the left in the entry from the 1896 catalog.
