THE SWIFT FROG PLATE:
The frogplate is shown alone to the left and attached to the stage of the microscope at the top of the page. It is a device for restraining a frog or fish to study the circulation of the blood in capillaries. This is done by visualizing a relatively transparent part of the animal, namely the web foot of the frog, or the tail of a fish.
