Below are pictures of the Ross Exhibition Microscope substage and the Achromatic condenser. Note the many possible adjustments and the signature on the condenser, 'Ross, London.' The adjustments to the substage include up and down rack and pinion motion to the substage, a rotary rack and pinion rotation to the substage with graduations, x and y centering adjustments via milled knobs. The substage assembly rides in a dovetailed fitting to assure stability. Adjustments to the condenser include a separate wheel of stops and another for apertures, each independently operated, with indicators on each wheel.
