case
This microscope came in an original Ross mahogany case. The microscope fits into a sliding platform inside the bottom of the case. The main case has furniture to hold the frog plate, and the bench condenser and likely had other fittings that have been lost over the years. The accessory case fits inside to the right of the microscope; note how the case is designed so that the microcope slides in off-center to the left to allow space for the accessory case. The accessory case contains its full complement of accessories, some of which may not have been available at the time this microscope was originally made. Therefore, like many other Ross microscopes now known, at least some of the acccesories may be later additions.
