A COMPARISON OF THE ORIGINAL FORM OF 'NEW MICROSCOPE' OF POWELL & LEALAND WITH THEIR LATER 'No 3' MODEL
MAKER: POWELL & LEALAND
The mechanical stage itself was much thinner on the No 3. This was achieved by:
1. Eliminating the sprung double-plate safety stage, and:
2. Placing the axis for the concentric controls below the main stage plate, in a housing that did not extend forward over the stage opening.
