The first metal McArthur microscope. Note the high position of the focusing knob and the use of the top surface as a stage neccesitating a protruding mount for the condenser.
McArthur reported this design in an article in the JRMS of 1934, p 182-185. In this article he pointed out all the many advantages of this design.
