WATSON-TYPE ROTATING MECHANICAL STAGE:

c. 1900

The mechanical stage found on this microscope is similar but not identical to the rotating mechanical stage found on the Watson Van Heurck Number 1 microscope, as shown in the bottom image on this page.

Fairservice microscope Stage

Note the similarity between the Van Heurck Rotating Stage on the left(courtesy of Allan Wisner), and the Fairservice stage on the right. While similar, there are certainly clear differences. These include the double milled knobs for the Fairservice, the slide holder riding in different ways, the subtly but clearly different shape and arrangement of the slide holder, and the use of a single rack in the center on the Fairservice model instead of one on the right and one on the left for the Van Heurck.
