FINAL FORM FROM ABOUT 1890

SOME INTRODUCTORY REMARKS:
This stand illustrates the final form of the Congress microscope. It incorporated the rack and pinion focus to the mirror, a feature first noted in publication in 1890, although it may have been used earlier. This stand also features the use of rectangular straight tailpieces for both mirror and condenser, features first published in 1884 and originally designed to be incorporated into the Biological No. 2 model.
