DESCRIPTION HISTORY CONDITION

DESCRIPTION:
This is a binocular example of the first version of the Bulloch Professional model. It is based on a flat tripod with a single pillar. It is signed on the foot: W.H. Bulloch, Chicago, PAT'D. 1879, 147. It has a Lister limb with dual swinging and calibrated tailpieces one for the condenser and one for the mirror. I features saddle mount that Bulloch was well known for. This isolates the stage mount from the rotation of the substage tail pieces. Coarse focus is by rack and pinion as is adjustment of the substage focus. Fine focus is by long lever controlled by a knob at the rear of the limb. Interocular distance of the binocular is also adjusted by rack and pinion.

CONDITION:
The instrument is lacking most of its lacquer and is missing its mirror. The substage is incomplete.
