THE 'LENTICULAR MICROSCOPE'

MAKER: MORITZ PILLISCHER

c. 1850'S

pillischer lenticular microscope

In this image, the two bow-shaped steel springs for holding the slide can be seen. One, A, bowing out horizontally, pushes the specimen slide against the straight rear edge, B, of the stage. The other, C, bowing downward, pushes the slide against the surface of the stage. Each spring is held to the stage at one end by a single tiny lacquered brass screw. The pressure of these two springs allows the slide to move smoothly and accurately from side to side as the whole specimen is examined.
