A COMPARISON OF THE EARLIER MODEL WITH THE PENNY CYCLOPAEDIA MODEL

comparison

Note the location of the rack is cut into the inner optical tube on the older model. The cradle for the outer sleeve is fixed on the older model. The Penny Cyclopaedia model features rack and pinion focusing of the entire optical tube assembly on the triangular limb. The Lister limb of the older model is shaped slightly differently and has a gradually changing sculptural profile with the apex of the triangular limb pointing back whereas the Penny Cyclopaedia model has a limb with a rectangular profile which abruptly changes to a triangular profile with the apex of the triangle facing forwards. Note also the difference in shape of the ends of the foot.
