The images above show the major part of the Varley Capillary Tablet. On the left is the side with the tablet, and on the right is the bottom of this same piece. The round cover that fits on top of the tablet is missing. Unlike other known examples of Varley's 'Cage', this example does not have a channel on the base around the glass tablet, although the sides of the tablet are still tapered outward, which still creates a channel around it when the cover is in place.
