Portable Tripod Compound Microscope
MAKER:BAUSCH & LOMB
MODEL: WIDEFIELD TUBE MICROSCOPE WITH GRADUATED SCALE
AMERICAN
c. 1956
This is a tripod- mounted monocular surface inspection microscope of unusually high 40X power with a built-in graduated scale for taking measurements. Although this type of microscope was promoted for metal inspection, it could be used to inspect and measure features of any flat material. It is in good overall working condition, and although the distal lens element has some delamination, it still produces a reasonably good image. It is signed on the upper part of the tube: BAUSCH, & LOMB, ROCHESTER, N.Y. U.S.A., 40x. In 1956 it cost $63 which today would be over $800!
