THE 'NEW COMPENDIOUS POCKET MICROSCOPE':

c. 1771,

by GEORGE ADAMS SR

Adams Microscope

The Adams 'New compendious Pocket Microscope' could be taken apart to fit in a case; but that case was not 'pocket sized' by today's standards. It features aquatic motion to the arm, an ivory focusing knob, and an ornate slider of objective lenses (F in the illustration). The case for this instrument measured 18 x 12.4 x 3.5 cm (7 x 5 x 1.5 inches roughly).
